U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Harvesting

The U.S Capitol Christmas Tree Has Been Harvested!

The U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree Harvesting is complete and successful!  A year-long mission to find and harvest the perfect Christmas tree came to an end. With more than a 1,000 people watching on November 2nd, the U.S. Capitol Christmas tree was harvested from the “Little Ski Hill” west of McCall.  Chris Niccoli and Jared Schuster cut down an 80-foot Engelmann spruce by hand with a cross saw. The tree was then gently placed in a custom-built 80′ cradled trailer.  The tree spanned across both lanes of traffic while it was escorted into the small town of McCall, Idaho to be carefully packaged up for the remainder of the journey.  The long day was full of enthusiasm for the team.

If you did not get to see it live or haven’t had the opportunity to watch it on social media, here’s a link to the KTVB News coverage.    You can also find additional details in the KTVB article.

The celebration will begin on November 5th with a special ceremony in downtown McCall, Idaho, from 5 pm-7 pm.  The ceremony will kick-off with a parade through downtown McCall.  The entire journey will be made up of 4,000 miles and will include 28 stops across the United States.

If you will not be able to make it to one of the community stop festivities, you are in LUCK because we will be keeping you up to date.  Stay tuned and follow the journey on Facebook!
